briannah and sarah vs the ice cap
Call us crazy....

This past Saturday, February 9th, Sarah and I spent the day with Briannah, a former student, photographing beaches along the Lake Michigan shoreline.  Briannah, a budding photographer, is just beginning to master the technical skills, but she certainly has the eye.  We all know which of those two is more important.  In between breaks in the car and local coffee shop to warm up, we both found the day rewarding.

Those of you not familiar with Lake Michigan in the winter, the picture above tells you all you need to know...  Sarah and Briannah are standing at what would normally be the water's edge.  In front of them, the overshadowing ice, snow, and sand is happily provided by the Michigan winter.  It was also quite windy this particular day (look at the sand blowing at their feet) - we changed lenses in the car only!

Being somewhat of a solitary soul, I enjoy taking beach pictures more in the off season simply because there are fewer people.  However, I was happy to share this day with Sarah and Bri.  Bri - we can't wait to do this again!
