I tend to enjoy making and sharing images of
people more than I do of outdoor/nature scenes. For me, outdoor
photography is more about getting some time alone to relax and reconnect
than it is about making images. Of course, I still enjoy outdoor
photography - but it's more of a means to end for me than an end in itself.
It's also becoming a new way of bonding with my wife, as she's starting to
catch a little of the shutter bug herself.
I've made thousands of outdoor images over the years. The collection
above represents my favorites, which isn't always the same as my technical
best or the favorites of others. These images all speak to me, and in
a weird way, I speak to them as well. When making an image, you aren't
just recording a scene - you're becoming a part of it. It is that
relationship that I find the most rewarding.
