Every serious photographer, whether amateur or pro, will tell you the best
times of day to take pictures are the morning and evening hours when the sun
provides soft, colorful light. Capitalizing on evening hours is easy for
me, and even though I get up before sunrise for the day job, I must admit
that I often struggle waking up early on weekends to go out shooting. Every
time I do, however, I am rewarded with great images - you'd think I'd
learn. This morning, not a soul was up, save a runner or two. The paths
around town bustle with pedestrian traffic during the day and evening
hours. But here the stillness stood in stark contrast to that norm. Early
mornings are a most peaceful time. The stillness they impart provides a
lasting calm throughout a hectic day. If you have never gotten up before
sunrise on your day off, you don't know what you are missing.
Technical Details: 0.6 sec at f/8 - 18-200mm lens at 70mm -
cloudy white balance +3 - RAW ISO 100
Technically, this shot was easy. I
simply composed the shot and let the camera's meter pick the shutter speed
indicated with the aperture and ISO I had set.
